RSOC a cornerstone of the Rochester and Southeast Minnesota cultural arts scene
Rochester’s own symphony and chorale was founded in 1919. Our earliest ensemble — the Lawler-Dodge Orchestra — was a group of volunteers motivated by their passion to play, driven by Daisy Plummer and directed by Harold Cooke. Appearing in the former Chateau Theater pit, they provided background music for silent movies.
In the past 90 plus years, Rochester Symphony Orchestra & Chorale has evolved into a first-rate professional performing arts organization and a cultural benchmark for our community. Our ensemble of 70 musicians and volunteer choir is proud to serve the region’s demand for high quality musical performance. We’re also committed to providing educational experiences for all ages, to grow new audiences and to enrich the experiences of current supporters.
We thank you for supporting us in our mission: to serve our community and region by preserving, nurturing and advancing the art of music through education and high-quality performances that seek to touch the soul.
