The mission of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra & Chorale (RSOC) is to serve our community and region by preserving, nurturing and advancing the art of music through education, and high-quality performances that seek to touch the soul.
RSOC serves the community's needs by offering a fabulous concert season with a repertoire of traditional and new classical music selections performed in both symphony and chamber formats by 70 gifted professional musicians. Guest artists from around the world often join RSOC performances. Most recently, Andrew Staupe, winner of the 2011 Pro Musicis International Award performed with the RSO for the 2011/2012 opening concert celebration. Some performances include RSOC's wonderfully talented and committed volunteer chorale with over 60 members.
RSOC also serves the community through its well balanced and accessible youth and adult education programs, and community outreach. Coda, our music and mixing by the riverside series, is the newest addition to our musical repretoire. It offers RSO and local musicians opportunity to play in small jazz and other ensembles. Offered free to community, it allows for enjoyable listening, socializing and relaxing in the beautifully restored comfort of the Historic Riverside Building. Rebroadcasts of RSOC concerts on local radio station 97.5 FM KNXR, concert promenade series can be heard 2 weeks after the concert at 6 P.M. These broadcasts reach an estimated 60,000 listeners annually.
We invite you to join us for a powerfully enriching and healing melodic experience our concerts offer... performed like no other!
