Rochester Symphony Orchestra & Chorale

2013/2014 SEASON




We have five creative individuals competing in this year's contest: Steve Lange, Steve Borchardt, Shawn Fagan, Mary Beth Sancomb-Moran and Joe O'Toole. The candidate who raises the most in donations between now and April 21 will conduct at the April 26 evening concert at Century High School and the runner up will conduct the 2:00pm afternoon performance.


Donating is easy!  Click here, choose the amount, click "Donate Now" and then "Dedicate this donation" to your favorite candidate. Donations can also be sent directly to the RSOC offices. Be sure to note your candidate's name with your donation. Check our Facebook page often for updates on the contest and for more on your favorite candidates.

Concerto for Orchestra

*Due to measures beyong RSOC's control, Andrew Staupe is unable to perform with the RSO at this concert. Anthony Ross, principal cellist with the Minnesota Orchestra will be the featured guest artist performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto in B-minor, Op. 104. We look forward to having Andrew perform the Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat, Op. 83 with the RSO in the near future.

Rochester Symphony Orchestra & Chorale (RSOC) proudly presents the third year of Playing with the Pros -- a concerto preparatory experience -- culminating January 26, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.  Free and open to the public, Playing with the Pros will take place at Rochester Community and Technical College 's Hill Theatre. Music students and instructors are encouraged to attend.

For advanced music students, this multifaceted program guides young musicians through the process of preparing to solo with an orchestra. If you are interested in applying to participate in this program, please discuss with your private teacher and download these forms: program summary and application.






 Playing with the Pros is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, an arts and cultural heritage grant from Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council (SEMAC), Mayo Clinic, and Rochester Arts Council's "Dancing for the Arts" Youth Arts Education Grants.



Playing with the Pros 2011-2012 a Hit with Young Students!

The event was funded by the funded by the Minnesota State Arts Board through the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the Legacy Amendment vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
