A day of mini-lessons for 4th-6th grade aspiring musicians
COVID update: We are currently working on plans for a digital option to replace our usual in-person event. The event normally takes place in January so check back here for an update in December about what our plans might be!

Honk Squeak Scratch Boom (HSSB) is for 4th-6th grade aspiring musicians. Participation is FREE and students receive hands-on mini-lessons from Rochester Symphony Orchestra musicians while sampling a variety of string, wind, brass and percussion instruments. Each student has the opportunity to try at least ten different instruments of their choosing. HSSB is truly unique. Other orchestras sponsor instrument “petting zoos” where students can pick up instruments and attempt to play them, but at HSSB, professional musicians engage one-on-one with the participants to provide instruction.
